Peppered Steak Over Rice

A hearty, savory dish made with tender slices of beef simmered in a rich pepper-forward sauce with onions and bell peppers. Served over fluffy white rice, it’s comforting, flavorful, and comes together quickly for an easy weeknight dinner that feels like classic home-cooked comfort food.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 Steak, preferred cut (I prefer top sirloin or London broil)
  • 1/2 Onion, sliced
  • 1/2 Green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 Red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 TBS Olive oil or oil of choice
  • 2 cups Cooked rice (cook per package instructions)
Marinade
  • 1 TBS Salt
  • 1 TBS Pepper
  • 1 TBS Garlic powder
  • 1 TBS Onion powder
  • 1 TBS Chicken or beef bouillon
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 TBS Soy sauce (I use coconut aminos for a healthy alternative)
  • 2 TBS Sugar
  • 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 TBS Rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar works too
  • 1 tsp Baking soda (helps tenderize meat)
Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Beef broth
  • 2 TBS Soy sauce (I use coconut aminos for a healthy alternative)
  • 1 TBS Corn starch
  • 1 TBS Pepper
  • 1/2 TBS Sugar (optional to balance salt)

Method

  1. Cut your steak into thinly sliced strips. Season your steak with the marinade ingredients.
  2. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes. While your steak is marinating, slice your onion & peppers.
  3. Heat a medium skillet with 2 TBS olive oil, add your marinated steak and allow to cook until you get a nice crust on each side. Remove the steak and add in your onions and peppers. Add in your sauce ingredients and mix well to combine. Cook for 1 -2 minutes allowing the peppers and onions to soften.
  4. Add the steak back to your pan and allow it to reduce until the sauce thickens.
  5. Serve pepper steak over a bed of fluffy rice and enjoy!

Notes

You can garnish your dish with sliced green onions & sesame seeds if you’d like. This is a very beautiful and tasty dish! 🙂

I was looking for your bread recipes Tina but could not find them. I have my family in New Zealand who are gluten in tolerant but I could only find your buns and muffins. Can you please help me. Kind regards. Vicki Turner Australia.
